For Referees

Papers must be of high quality and fit within the scope of the journal. The following factors have to be satisfied:

  • Clear contribution to the literature
  • Effective communication and presentation
  • Current literature
  • High analytical contents

Often fewer papers will stand out in terms of their relative performance on the factors above. The referee should not waver or hesitate in rejecting any paper that is deficient on one of the requirements above. Sometimes, however, the referee has no doubts that a serious revision of the paper can solve the identified deficiencies in a timely manner. Only then, should the referee recommend a revision.
More specific criteria apply to papers presenting behavioral aspects of e-systems. Theoretical papers should not be rejected because they cannot establish their direct relevance to current issues in computing or the development of e-systems. The referee has to evaluate the relevant literature and assess the paper contribution accordingly before making an acceptance or rejection decision.
An acceptable paper of this type should contain:

  • Evidence of effectiveness and applicability; and
  • Demonstration of superiority compared to alternative approaches.

In addition, reviewers should be aware that we get many great contributions from non-English speaking scholars, from Europe, Africa, or Asia, and when the papers are outstanding, and then the referee should recommend to the journal staff to assign editors who can help the authors rewrite and resubmit their work.
