From the Editor-in-Chief The Journal of Computing and e-Systems is a refereed semiannual international journal which aims to publish articles of high quality dealing with two major areas: computing that relate to intelligent decision support, and the evolution of e-Systems. Even though most online business technologies attracted only large businesses and banks in the past, due to the high costs involved, the rapid development of the Internet made it feasible for public agencies, individual consumers and small businesses to participate. Today, every organization in the global market place is certainly affected by the Internet, and online business technologies on it. Popular information technology applications used in e-systems include e-Learning, e-Government, and e-Business. More new e-systems configurations and applications are arriving every day … Owners are however faced with the real challenge of creating business value in e-systems and redefining the new requirements and directions for survival or success in this new online system environment. Owners do not hide the fact that intelligent computing, information technology, and e-systems have become not only necessary for success, but a fundamental requisite for survival. Today, it is e-systems if you fail and e-systems if you thrive… With its exceptional preeminence, the Internet embraces almost the whole fields of business, education, and technology and touches at some point or other, on almost every social issue of our time. Let us have this forum where we all learn how to design, develop, and exploit IT to plan business value in e-systems. Sohail Chaudhry, Ph.D.
